Sat 28th March    Fitting Out Lunch at Hoveton Village Hall

The whole Club comes together to renew old friendships and chat about the coming season’s sailing over a substantial buffet lunch. Boat jumble, raffle, auction of special items and other entertainment in support of the Club make for a fine start to another year’s sailing.

Sat 11th April     Collecting for the RNLI in Wroxham

Members of the club give an hour of their time to stand and collect for the Wroxham Branch of the RLNI. You never know when one of us may need them.

Wed 15th April    Spring Work Party at the Anchorage

Time to clear away the cobwebs at the Anchorage, get the Honours Boards re-hung, tidy up the grounds and check the racing and gardening gear. Many hands make light work so please do try to come along. Bacon and veggie butties, tea and coffee will be available for all.

Sat 25th - Sun 26th April  Spring Trophy and Spring R&R*, Barton Broad

Racing round the traditional triangle and sausage course on this lovely Broad. This year there will be separate events for the more experienced Trophy-Hunters and a more relaxed R&R Fleet. R&R can participate for one or both days; beginners welcome. Evening meal on Saturday at Wayford Bridge 18:00hrs.

On Sunday after racing you are invited for soup and cakes at Jane Mitchell’s home at Neatishead.

Sat 9th May    Oby Thistle and Oby R&R, Anchorage

A line-start race from the Anchorage with Trophy and R&R fleets sailing on the River Bure between Thurne Mouth and Acle. An evening BBQ at the Anchorage is the usual end to a fine day.

Sat 23rd May    RYA “Push the Boat Out” Day, Anchorage

An NRSC Open Day when we combine forces with the RYA to invite people from across Norfolk to try out production yachts. A day to help us to identify new members, particularly those interested in moving up to yacht racing from dinghies, but also to welcome complete newcomers to the sport.

June- September   Sailing in Company

Informal cruising with other Members every week, often on a Wednesday, depending on weather and wind, but usually ending at the Anchorage for refreshment and relaxation with our friendly group. A great chance to obtain advice and support on rigging, boat-handling and the latest ideas, technologies and opportunities. Sign up to receive emails about each week’s event.

June- September   Ladies that Launch

Informal sailing, cruising and other activities once per month on a Friday afternoon/evening.  Activities will be led by Club ladies with active support from all Members. Sail and motor boats all welcome to the gathering at the Anchorage.

Sat 6th - Sun 7th June Summer Regatta, Summer R&R and Novice Trophy, Black Horse Broad

Line starts for Trophy and R&R fleets over two days with a traditional course laid out on this lovely Broad near Horning. The Novice Trophy will be run on the Saturday R&R can sign up for one or both days; stay overnight on a mud-weight or a mooring at Horning Sailing Club. Evening meal at The New Inn Horning moorings available

Mon 15th - Wed 24th June  Southern Rivers Cruise, including “A Taste of Salt”

Never crossed Breydon Water before? Here’s your chance to sail and learn in company. A leisurely trip with a fleet of sailing and motor boats and fine sights on the Yare, Chet and Waveney. Don’t miss the special mid-cruise race weekend at Oulton Broad – great fun! (see below). Also, an opportunity for members to sail back to the Bure in company via the sea route Lowestoft to Great Yarmouth.

Sat 20th - Sun 21st June  Inaugural Salver, Oulton Broad

A new venue for this event courtesy of our friends at Waveney and Oulton Broad Yacht Club. Racing for two days for both Trophy and R&R fleets with a Saturday evening meal at the renowned Wherry Inn at Oulton. Great viewing for non-racers from the clubhouse and overnight moorings too!

Sat 11th - Sun 26th July   East Coast Cruise

The jewel in the crown of NRSC’s fabulous cruising calendar. Join in from the Anchorage, Yarmouth or Lowestoft. We meet up and are welcomed again by the Lowest Cruising Club on the Saturday

where we stay overnight for departure South on Sunday 09.45 bridge opening, to sail to the Orwell, Stour, Deben and the Walton Backwaters, or even with a group travelling further to the Thames and the Medway. No other club on the Broads offers this experience!

Sat 8th August    Commodore’s Cup & Commodore’s R&R, Anchorage

A line-start race from Horning Hall on the Bure to Thurne Mouth and thence to the Anchorage, testing the river skills of the Trophy and R&R fleets  – always the chance of a brush with the reeds but ending happily at the Anchorage with a top-quality organised BBQ. Vegetarians welcome at all BBQs of course!

Sat 9 August    Green Ranger Trophy & R&R, Anchorage

This pursuit race for separate Trophy and R&R fleets sets you off from the Anchorage start line at a time depending on your boat’s handicap. After a passage up the Bure and back it makes for a great finish as the boats come together and race for the line in front of the assembled crowd.

Sat 29th Sun 30th August  Founders’ Cup

Regatta location to be advised. Evening meal on the Saturday booked at The Lion Inn, Thurne including moorings.

Sat 5 September   Globe Trophy, Three Mile House to Acle Bridge

Don’t miss this adventure on the Lower Bure! Delicious buffet lunch at Three Mile House then a passage race with timed starts, ideal if you’re not yet happy with start lines, but watch out for those low tides and muddy banks! Low water Acle 08.55. Finish at the Bridge Inn for a slap-up meal with the whole Club.

Sun 6-Sun 13 September  Northern Rivers Cruise

This cruise is a delight, visiting all your favourite beauty spots and gastro-pubs on the Thurne, Bure and Ant. See Norfolk at its best and be guided by an expert who does all the passage planning – an ideal introduction if you are relatively new to the Broads and always perfect for another visit.

Sat 26 September   Harvest Bowl, Trophy & R&R, Oby Dyke and Anchorage

A delightful race from a start line at Oby Dyke and finish line at the Anchorage.  The course upstream or downstream from the start, with possible turning marks at Acle, up the Thurne, at Womack and in the upper Bure.  Relaxation and conversation at the evening BBQ (vegetarians welcome!).

Sat 10 October    Club Championship, Trophy and R&R, Anchorage

Don’t miss this Trophy and R&R fleets pursuit race based at the Anchorage and sailing to Oby and Acle, closing off the season in grand style. As the evenings draw in look back with friends on the year’s events and as Kipling wrote, “treat triumph and disaster, those two impostors, both the same”!

Wed 21 October   Autumn Work Party at the Anchorage

Sat 31st October   AGM, Annual Dinner and Prize-giving at The Old      Rectory Hotel, Crostwick

Your vote counts so be sure to attend the AGM and have your voice heard as we shape the future. Afterwards eat well, collect your trophies and accolades and learn of the winners of the non-racing awards – all-important in recognising the services we enjoy from our Committee and other volunteers.

A casual evening at a local hostelry and a chance to socialise with fellow members out of season, enjoy their company and discuss the year’ sailing.

Sat 12 December   Christmas Cracker at the Brick Kilns, Little Plumstead

A great meal for all to conclude the year. Catch up with your friends, swap Christmas cards and have a go at the famous Christmas Hamper raffle.
